About NE-IECCE

IEEE NE-IECCE 2026, the second edition of the annual flagship conference of North-East India, will be jointly organized by the Dept. of Electrical Engineering (NIT Meghalaya), IEEE Guwahati Subsection, and the IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter (NIT Meghalaya). The conference aims to bring together researchers, academicians, students, industry professionals, and representatives from government and non-governmental organizations to exchange ideas and showcase their latest work in the broad domain of electrical and electronics engineering. IEEE NE-IECCE 2026 will serve as a platform to promote recent advancements and innovations that contribute to the sustainable growth of industry and society. With a focus on addressing the emerging needs of future industries—particularly in the areas of Sustainable Energy Conversion and Transport Electrification-the event will host leading experts who will present impactful research on topics such as modern smart grids, sustainable electric mobility, and advanced control systems.

ABOUT NIT Meghalaya

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is an Institute of National Importance established under the NIT Act, 2007, and operates under the support of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Since its inception in 2010, the institute has been committed to excellence in technical education, research, and innovation. Located in Shillong, Meghalaya, NIT Meghalaya offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in key disciplines of Engineering, Science, and Technology. The institute maintains high academic standards, a rigorous curriculum, a nd a strong emphasis on research and interdisciplinary learning. NIT Meghalaya fosters a research-intensive environment, with active projects in areas such as power and energy systems, artificial intelligence, materials science, embedded systems, sustainable technologies, and data science. Faculty and students regularly engage in sponsored research supported by national funding agencies, including ANRF, DST, SERB, MeitY, CPRI, ISRO, BRO, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, and SCSTE (Govt. of Meghalaya), etc. With modern infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and a vibrant academic ecosystem, the institute also promotes industry-academia collaboration, entrepreneurship, and community outreach. NIT Meghalaya is steadily emerging as a center for Technological Advancement and Innovation in the North Eastern region and across the country.

About the Department

Department of Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 2010. It offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs and focuses on delivering high-quality education and conducting research in areas such as Power Systems, Smart Grid Technologies, Power Electronics and Drives, Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy Integration, Signal Processing, Machines and Drives, Control and Automation, Cybersecurity, and Transactive Energy Markets. The department is equipped with well-furnished laboratories and specialized simulation software to support extensive research. Faculty members actively publish in reputed journals and conferences, including IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, and Taylor & Francis, and have secured research funding from agencies such as ANRF, DST, SERB, CPRI, MeitY, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, and SCSTE (Govt. of Meghalaya). Furthermore, the department is actively involved in outreach initiatives and has successfully organized several international events, including ICEPE (annual flagship conference of NITM) and ISSETA. The Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Meghalaya, is accredited by the NBA.

About IEEE Guwahati Subsection

The petition to establish the IEEE Guwahati Subsection was submitted on February 21, 2021, and subsequently approved on June 26, 2021. The Guwahati Subsection operates under the IEEE Kolkata Section and serves as a regional hub for IEEE activities across the North-Eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. The subsection brings together a diverse community of students, faculty members, industry professionals, and researchers, actively contributing to the advancement of technology in the region. IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization, is dedicated to fostering innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. Through its widely recognized publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational programs, IEEE and its members continue to inspire and engage a global community.
